County, Municipal Officials Take Oath of Office
LOCK HAVEN – Clinton County officials elected or re-elected in November were this morning part of a ceremony which has been carried out in the Clinton County Court House every January every two years dating back to the Civil War.
County officials were joined by some 20 local elected officials as part of the swearing in ceremony, the oath of office administered to each by President Judge Craig Miller.
Most were sworn in individually, although incumbent commissioners Pete Smeltz and Jeff Snyder and newly elected commissioner Paul Conklin were done collectively. Newly elected district attorney Dave Strouse was the first sworn in. Row officers followed, including new sheriff Kerry Stover and incumbent prothonotary Marie Vilello. Register and recorder Jennifer Hoy took the oath of office for her first full term; also sworn in were incumbent auditors Michelle Crowell and Peggy Heller and former auditor Rita O’Brien who was successful in a November bid for another four years in that position.
Local officials who so desired were also sworn in: Two municipal mayors were administered the oath, the first term for both; Bill Baney in Lock Haven and Robert Cozzi in South Renovo. Others sworn in included: Avis borough council, Thomas Gordon, Jeffrey Raab and Donald Aungst; Bald Eagle Township supervisor Jack Bechdel; Castanea Township supervisor Charles Clukey and township auditor Martha Winslow; Flemington borough council members David Grimm and Traci Kuntz; Lamar Township supervisor Michael Geyer; Leidy Township supervisor David Flack; Porter Township supervisor Michael Champion; Wayne Township supervisor David Calhoun and township auditor Jeri Goodbrod; Woodward Township supervisor Kyle Coleman and township auditor Rebecca Reeder; Pine Creek Township supervisor Dennis Greenaway; Gallagher Township auditor Loretta Coltrane; Lock Haven city council member Doug Bylerly.
All those sworn in will see their new terms in office begin on Monday, Jan. 4.
