Wildcats Dominate Mustangs 74-30

cm-basketballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Stingy defense and relentless offense will win games. That was the game plan and execution for Central Mountain as they hosted Heartland foe, Midd-West and proceeded to add another win by besting the Mustangs 74-30.

The Wildcats opened the game with a tough defensive front that held Midd-West to only 16 points in the first half while amassing 39 points of their own. Had CM been a bit more accurate on their shots in the first quarter, the score differential at the break could have been much greater.

The second half was more of the same with the Wildcats dominating the boards at both ends of the court and forcing Mustang turnovers. Persistence on offense also paid dividends for Central Mountain as they persevered and kept the ball in play with second and third efforts until they either scored or drew the foul … and sometimes both.

Central Mountain maintained their press defense throughout the game as those skills and plays will be required to stay competitive the remainder of the season and resulted in the Mustangs breaking double digits only once in the third quarter, yet they were outscored by CM 29-10 in that period.

Leading the way for the Wildcats offensively was Brody Baker who pounded out 22 points, followed by Kyle Everhart, 12, Alex Garbrick and Nick Carpenetti each scoring 10 points.

Wyatt Bumbarger and Justin Neff each added 5 points to the effort while Landon Breon contributed 2 points.

Next up for the Wildcats is a road trip to Jersey Shore on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016.
