LHU Women’s Basketball remains unbeaten in PSAC East, soars past West Chester
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven women’s basketball team used a dominant middle stretch and a monster day at the foul line to roll past West Chester 73-50 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Saturday afternoon at Thomas Fieldhouse.
Lock Haven showed no signs of slowing down on Saturday afternoon and improved to 12-5 overall and 8-3 in the PSAC. The Haven is now 6-0 vs. the Eastern Division and 8-1 in front of the home crowd. The Bald Eagles last four victories have all come by double figures.
West Chester slipped to 9-8 on the season and 5-6 in conference play.
After falling behind 20-12 after the first quarter, the Bald Eagles outscored the Golden Rams 61–30 over the final three periods to run away with the win at home.
Lock Haven seized control with a 22-8 second quarter, turning the early eight-point deficit into a 34-28 halftime lead. The Bald Eagles kept the pressure on with a 24-10 third quarter to build a 58-38 cushion heading to the fourth.
Jenadia Jordan powered Lock Haven with a game-high 26 points, hitting 7-of-13 from the field, 4-of-8 from beyond the arc and 8-of-10 at the line, while adding nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
Madeline Evans dominated the interior with 18 points and a game-best 13 rebounds, going 10-of-12 at the stripe and chipping in five steals and three blocks.
Alana Robinson added 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and five steals, and Sydney Lear came off the bench for seven points, including a key 3-pointer late in the second quarter that sent Lock Haven to the locker room up six.
Lock Haven’s aggression showed at the line, where it went 28-for-35 (80 percent) compared to West Chester’s 8-for-12. The Bald Eagles also forced 23 turnovers and converted them into 26 points, while holding the Golden Rams to 37 percent shooting from the floor.
Lock Haven finished 20-for-51 (39 percent) from the field and 5-for-16 from 3-point range, owning a 35-22 edge on the glass and a 12-8 advantage in second-chance points. The Bald Eagles also posted 16 steals and never trailed after taking the lead late in the second quarter, eventually pushing the margin to as many as 23 in the final seconds.
