Residents Urged to Use 511PA and Look for New Emergency Alert System Set to Launch January 1, 2026

LOCK HAVEN – At the Work Session on Monday, Tyler Plessinger highlighted a significant change coming to the county’s public emergency alert system. The current CodeRed emergency notification system will be discontinued on December 31, with the county set to adopt the Rave Mobile Safety Platform as of January 1, 2026. “Rave is going to be our new alerting system for Clinton County,” Plessinger explained.

The Rave Mobile Safety Platform is a state-of-the-art system used by communities throughout all 50 states. It offers an integrated approach to critical communication, data sharing, and emergency response, all aimed at creating safer, more connected communities.

The new platform’s features are anticipated to enhance communication during emergencies. Rave offers fast, targeted notifications and connects public and private organizations, including first responders at the county’s 9-1-1 center. It also improves situational awareness for emergency personnel and includes tools to further strengthen the link between residents and emergency services.

By ensuring that vital information reaches emergency responders and the community quickly and by increasing response speed, the Rave Platform will bolster Clinton County’s readiness for a broad range of emergency scenarios.

Plessinger assured county residents that anyone already registered with CodeRed will have their information automatically transferred to the new system. However, he recommended that everyone visit the Clinton County DES Facebook page for updates and information on how to sign up for Rave, as well as the Rave Mobile Safety Platform website (linked at the bottom of this article) in January to confirm and update their information. “There’s going to be no lack of alerting,” he said. “I would recommend going to the website to make sure all your information is updated once we go live, which is January 1,” he added, emphasizing the importance of maintaining up-to-date contact information.

When Commissioner Angela Harding asked whether residents should sign up for CodeRed before the transition or wait until Rave is officially launched, Plessinger advised, “I would wait until we go live January 1 to sign up because that way you don’t have to do both,” he said. “They transferred the information from CodeRed about a month ago, so I would wait,” Plessinger advised.

Plessinger also announced that Clinton County has renewed its “StormReady” certification, which recognizes communities that are well-prepared for severe weather. “We are recertified because we maintain all requirements when it comes to communication, the National Weather Service, information reception, hydrometeorology monitoring, local warning dissemination, and community preparedness and administration,” Plessinger explained, adding that this designation is now extended through 2030.

In closing, Plessinger encouraged the public to stay attentive to weather updates, use official resources such as 511 PA and the National Weather Service, and look for more information about the Rave alert system in both the local press and on Clinton County DES platforms in the coming weeks.
