Airport fencing project “green lighted” by City Council

LOCK HAVEN – City Council met Monday evening in council chambers.

Council voted unanimously to award the contract for fencing and gates for the Lock Haven Airport to Fye Fencing of Punxsutawney for $123,760.

City Planner Abbey Roberts said that the fencing project, “should be done by the end of the year.”

Also on the subject of the Lock Haven Airport, city council signed the Commercial Through-the-Fence (TTF) agreement for Lock Haven Airport with Piper Museum.

“This is the final of the Through-the-Fence agreements,” City Manager Greg Wilson said. “We arrived at this final agreement after discussions with Piper and notifying the Bureau of Aviation and the Federal Aviation Administration.”

In other news, Citizens Hose Company asked the city council to close Leather Alley adjacent to the fire department from November 27 through December 30 for their annual Christmas Tree sale. City Council voted unanimously to the closure on the first reading.

City Council also voted to allow the closure of the East Main Street parking lot on Friday, December 12 for the annual Robb Elementary School Holiday Concert.

Bidding for the Youngdale Wellfield Project opens on Wednesday, November 19. The project and pipeline will pipe water directly to the filtration plant.

Maher Duessel, a non-profit and government accounting firm was appointed by city council to perform the 2024 fiscal year audit of the city. The proposed fee to complete the audit is $55,000.

The Lock Haven Area Flood Protection Authority submitted a letter to city council requesting an additional $2,500 from the 2026 budget. Wilson informed the council that their request was already part of the presented budget.

The City Authority also sent in a request for the city to pay the water authority a portion of their 2023-2024 audit. The $4,900 price tag was split equally between the Authority water and sewer accounts.

Lastly, city council also informed the public that a new Executive Director of the Ross Library will be announced soon.
