American Legion Post 442 Leads Holiday Traditions

RENOVO  – In challenging times, few things lift a community more than simple acts of kindness. Helping others not only strengthens the bonds between neighbors—it reminds us that no one has to face life’s hardships alone. The Renovo community is fortunate to have organizations that embody this spirit year after year, and Renovo Legion Post 442 continues to stand at the heart of that generosity.

Each Thanksgiving, Post 442 opens its doors to the public for a free community dinner. This year’s meal will be held November 27 from noon to 2 p.m., offering a warm, welcoming place for anyone who wishes to share in good food and good company. The event is dine-in only, encouraging connection and conversation—things just as nourishing as the meal itself.

The giving doesn’t stop there. Post 442 also brings joy to local families by hosting its annual Kids Christmas Party, taking place this year on December 20 at noon. Children 10 and under are invited to celebrate the season with holiday fun, treats, and surprises. Parents are asked to call the Legion at 570-923-2510 to register their child by providing their name and age.

These events highlight the best of what community can be—people coming together, lifting each other up, and creating moments of joy even in difficult times. By supporting and participating in traditions like these, the spirit of kindness stays alive in Renovo and ensures that every neighbor feels valued and remembered.
