Zion Lutheran Church Hosts Annual “Coats for Kids” This Weekend

RENOVO — As winter approaches, Zion Lutheran Church is once again opening its doors to help local families stay warm. The church’s annual “Coats for Kids” winter clothing giveaway will take place this Saturday and Sunday, November 8 and 9, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 1100 Huron Avenue, Renovo — located across from the Renovo Fire Department.
This yearly community outreach provides new and gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves — free of charge — to children from infants through 18 years old. Organizers say that children must be present and fitted to ensure the best size and comfort when receiving their coat.
Last year, more than 60 coats and accompanying winter accessories were distributed to local children, and organizers expect to serve a similar number of families this year.
Distribution will take place through the church’s back parking lot entrance, leading into the social room where volunteers will assist families in selecting items.
“Coats for Kids is about neighbors helping neighbors,” and community members are encouraged to like and share the event online to spread the word. “Every child deserves to feel warm and cared for during the winter months.”
