Autumn’s Notes

Welcome to Autumn’s Notes! I’m Autumn — a mom of three girls, a singer, a writer, a wife, and a worship leader.
Parenting today can feel overwhelming, with social media comparisons and the impossible expectations society often sets. Through God’s grace, His Word, and the music that lifts my spirit, I’m learning to navigate the messy, beautiful journey of motherhood. I hope sharing my experiences, the joys, the struggles, and the little lessons along the way — might plant a seed of hope in the heart of a parent who needs it most.So go ahead parents, warm up that coffee, put on some music, take a deep breath, and join me each week as we find grace and encouragement in the everyday moments of parenting.
A “God Wink” on a Monday Morning
Monday mornings can feel like a dissonant song — rushed, chaotic, and offbeat. This one hit me especially hard. After a late Sunday night, I woke up feeling unprepared, under the weather, and immediately slammed into the chaos of getting three daughters ready for school. Lunches still needed packing, shoes couldn’t be found, and the toddler was extra needy. Our middle daughter couldn’t find anything she needed, and the oldest needed everything she didn’t have.
With my husband off at work, it all falls on me for the moment — trying to be the mom, the comforter, the chauffeur, the chef, the problem solver — all while remembering I need to tend to myself, even though self-care feels impossibly far away.In those moments, it’s easy to feel like I need to split myself in three to be all things for everyone who depends on me. And yet, even in the overwhelm, I felt a quiet reminder of God’s goodness. His presence was there, strengthening me in my weakness, just as Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
After finally dropping my middle daughter off at school — just one minute late — I felt the familiar sting of guilt, that “failure as a parent” feeling creeping in. And then, as if on cue, a song came on the radio: Into the Sea (It’s Gonna Be Ok) by Tasha Layton. The lyrics washed over me like a gentle chord in a minor key suddenly resolving into harmony. It was a “God Wink” — a melodic reminder that He sees the small struggles, the messy mornings, and the moments we feel stretched too thin. Music has this incredible power to speak truth into our hearts, sometimes in ways words alone cannot.
That song reminded me that even in life’s offbeat, chaotic moments, God is orchestrating grace. Even when we feel like we’re failing, even when self-care seems impossible, we are strengthened in our weakness. Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” And sometimes, all it takes is a song, a melody, a word of encouragement, a “God Wink” to help us breathe, reset, and keep moving forward.
So, if your morning is chaotic, if you feel stretched too thin, or if you’re questioning yourself as a parent, pause for a moment. Take a breath. Listen. God is in the midst, and sometimes, He speaks through music, laughter, or the smallest reminders that it’s going to be okay.
Until next week,
May your days have a little music, your heart feel God’s grace, and you rest in the truth that comes from knowing you are enough.
