Wildcats Set for District 6 Semifinal Showdown with Hollidaysburg
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP-The Central Mountain boys soccer team will look to extend its postseason run when the Wildcats travel to Hollidaysburg on Thursday, October 23, for a 7 p.m. kickoff in the District 6 Class AAA semifinals.
Central Mountain enters the matchup as the No. 4 seed with an 8-6-3 record after finishing fourth in the PHAC standings this season among nine teams. The Wildcats have been a balanced and disciplined group on both ends of the field, allowing just 26 goals all year. Senior goalkeeper Jaggar Pardoe has been a key factor between the posts, recording four shutouts while anchoring a reliable back line.
Offensively, Dylan Bechdel leads Central Mountain with eight goals, while Tim Brinker and Griffin Confer have each tallied seven assists, sparking much of the team’s scoring opportunities.
Top-seeded Hollidaysburg enters the game with an impressive 15-2-1 record, earning the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The Golden Tigers also have recent postseason success against Central Mountain, having defeated the Wildcats 1–0 in last year’s semifinal matchup.
In the other District 6 semifinal, Bellefonte will take on Tyrone, with both winners advancing to the championship next week.
Thursday’s contest sets the stage for another competitive battle between two strong programs, with Central Mountain looking to avenge last year’s narrow defeat and earn a spot in the district final.
