Central Mountain High School
I am Catherine Farrell and I am the student government representative from Central Mountain High School. I am honored to work with you all on the board this year. On May 12 student government elected new officers. We were honored and excited to receive an invitation to participate in meetings with Dr. Redmon. Spirit week is this week and the Fall play began rehearsing recently. The show The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and it is playing November 14-16. They have received a lot of compliments and praise on their past performances.
Central Mountain Middle School
I am Levi Mace from Central Mountain Middle School. We have seven out of nine student government students returning from last year. We had seats open on student government for 5th, 6th, and 7th grades, and all of 8th grade returned. We will be voting in officers this coming week. The cafeteria redesign was completed over the summer and we received great feedback from students. We will be holding a survey soon asking students what they would want to see changed in the middle school. I hope we can help and make their requests possible.
Lastly, students from Central Mountain Middle School presented their school as the School of the Month.
During a slideshow presentation, students presented the things that make their school shine.
Students made comments such as “we love our principals,” and “the staffulty love our students.”
A common theme and mantra of the school is that “with all of us working together, anything is possible at Central Mountain Middle School.
On the first day of school, students participated in a full-school “rock, paper, scissors” competition.
High-five Fridays are built in to the weekly calendar to help build and share positive energy among the students, faculty, and staff.
When it comes to school spirit, the students said that the student athletes are passionate about their sport and having team and school spirit.
The students also spoke about mini-THON and a new, upcoming mini-mini-THON for elementary school students taking place next year.
“We raised over $100,000 since we started holding the mini-THON event at the school,” a student proudly stated.
Lastly, the students were excited to mention the new classes available, including Leadership 1 and 2 and Performing Arts.
“The itinerant classes help us expand our knowledge and skills,” a student said.
