Lady Wildcats Honor Alumna Sara Hawksworth Geyer During Match Against Milton
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – The Central Mountain Lady Wildcats hosted PHAC II powerhouse Milton on Saturday afternoon at Malinak Stadium.
According to Head Coach Ryan Veltri, the visiting Black Panthers came out strong, led by their Division I–bound standout, and quickly took control of the match.
“Milton struck early and maintained pressure throughout the first half,” Veltri said. “Despite the surge, we held our defensive shape and battled to stay in the game, but a late goal just before halftime sent us into the break trailing 2–0.”
Veltri added that the second half followed a similar script, with Milton adding two more quick goals to extend its lead to 4–0. “Though the result was out of reach, our girls showed resilience and continued to compete hard until the final whistle,” he said. “Our young lineup displayed encouraging moments of quality ball movement, passing combinations, and a determined spirit — signs of growth for a developing squad.”
Saturday’s match also carried special significance beyond the scoreboard. Prior to kickoff, Central Mountain honored one of its own, Sara (Hawksworth) Geyer, a 2009 graduate and former Lady Wildcat standout, who was inducted into the Central Mountain High School Hall of Fame. Hawksworth, a key contributor to the program’s historic success in the mid-2000s, was recognized for her exceptional career and lasting impact on the school’s soccer legacy.
While Milton secured the win, the day was a reminder of both the proud past and the promising future of Lady Wildcat Soccer.
Sara Hawksworth was an essential part of the Lady Wildcat Soccer program, playing a major role in some of the most successful seasons in Central Mountain girls’ soccer history. A four-year varsity player and two-year captain, Hawksworth helped set a standard of excellence that remains etched in the school’s record books.
Her impact was especially felt during the unforgettable 2006 season — widely remembered as the best in program history. That year, Central Mountain captured league, District 6, and Eastern Regional championships. In the PIAA 3A state tournament, the Wildcats stunned the nation’s top-ranked team, Owen J. Roberts, in the quarterfinals before falling to Downingtown West in the state semifinals, a match decided in the final two minutes. Downingtown went on to win the state title. That season, Central Mountain earned a national ranking of 20th among all high school girls’ soccer teams.
Over her four-year career, Hawksworth was part of a dominant run that included three league championships and an undefeated streak in league play that spanned three consecutive seasons. In her senior year, Central Mountain finished the regular season unbeaten before being narrowly upset in the district semifinals. During her time as a Lady Wildcat, the program compiled an impressive 58-19-5 record.
Individually, Hawksworth earned Second-Team All-League honors as a sophomore before being named First-Team All-League in both her junior and senior seasons. She was also a two-time PSCA All-State selection and received recognition as a Regional All-American.
After graduating in 2009, Hawksworth attended Mercyhurst University, where she continued her soccer career and earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology. She went on to complete her medical degree at LECOM and continued training in general internal medicine at Geisinger Danville.
She has been practicing hospital medicine at Evangelical Community Hospital for the past five years. Sara married her husband, Trey Geyer, in 2018, and they have three children — Gabi (4), Cliff (2), and Cal (5 months). The family lives in the Lewisburg area, where she enjoys gardening and spending time with family and friends.
