Wildcats Blank Shikellamy 4-0 on Senior Night
MILL HALL – Central Mountain made Senior Night one to remember, posting a 4-0 shutout over Shikellamy on Wednesday evening at Malinak Stadium.
Both teams entered with similar records, Central Mountain at 6-5-2 and Shikellamy at 6-6-1, and the first half reflected the tight matchup. The Braves opened with steady pressure, but the Wildcats regrouped and generated several quality chances. Despite the opportunities, the game remained scoreless at halftime.
After the break, Central Mountain took control. The Wildcats peppered the Shikellamy net, forcing goalkeeper Nathaniel Allar into a busy second half. With 26:03 remaining, Nolan Cross finally broke through, putting Central Mountain on the board. Just minutes later, Yayfran Sanchez doubled the lead with a goal at the 20:33 mark.
The momentum carried as Mycah Carson added the third goal with 15:29 to play, capitalizing on a corner shot that slipped past the Shikellamy keeper. With 1:41 left, senior Cole Cooper capped the night with the fourth and final goal to secure the 4-0 victory.
Head coach Billy Hook started all 11 seniors and relied on the Wildcats’ depth to maintain pressure throughout the match.
Seniors recognized before the game included Jaggar Pardoe, Camden Boob, Tim Brinker, Cole Cooper, Brody Rhine, Hayes Miller, Mycah Carson, Griffin Confer, Dylan Bechdel, Nolan Cross, and Kullen McDermit.
The win moved Central Mountain to 7-5-2 on the season, while Shikellamy fell to 6-7-1. The Wildcats will next travel to Jersey Shore on Monday to face their downriver rivals, the Bulldogs.
