Veteran & Author Kevin Macomber to Speak at Ross Library

LOCK HAVEN – The Ross Library will host Kevin Macomber, a U.S. military veteran who served in the Middle East during the 1980s, for a powerful author talk on Saturday, October 4 at 11:00 a.m.

Earlier this year, Macomber released his groundbreaking book, Walking From The Shadows – My Journey With Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Written to be “trauma-agnostic,” the book focuses not on the specifics of his own combat experiences but on the steps he took to heal—drawing from 15 years of deeply personal journaling that spans his mental decline and three decades of recovery.

Macomber’s mission is urgent: to help reduce the tragic rate of veteran suicides. He estimates that over one million people have already heard his message through speaking engagements and media appearances. His book has been accepted by the libraries of all four major U.S. military academies as well as Canada’s Royal Military College, and is currently used in Penn State’s Veterans Integration Program. He regularly consults with the Pennsylvania Governor’s Office and the Department of Military and Veteran Affairs, and will visit the U.S. Senate next month to further advocate for solutions.

This free event is open to the public. Veterans, families, mental-health professionals, and community members are encouraged to attend and take part in the conversation.
