Wildcats Fall Short Against Shikellamy, 14-7
SUNBURY – Central Mountain football dropped a close one Friday night, falling 14-7 to Shikellamy on the road. The Wildcats, under head coach Travis Thompson, continued to show steady improvement despite the loss.
Quarterback Kyle Everett started the night for the Wildcats. He would later lead the Wildcats to their first first down of the game, but he left with an injury and did not return. Freshman Alex Johnson came in and completed two passes, including a 19-yard strike to Dalton McDermott, who took it in for the touchdown. Mycah Carson added the extra point.
McDermott led the Wildcats with 38 total yards, rushing for 19 on 10 carries and adding a 19-yard touchdown reception. Everett finished with 12 rushing yards on two carries, Johnson had 6 yards on six carries, and Kole Coleman added 9 yards on five attempts. Ricky Rohrbach had a 16-yard reception and Kole Corman added 8 yards.
Defensively, senior Mario Serafini turned in a strong performance with a sack, a fumble recovery, and a deflected pass that helped keep the Wildcats within striking distance.
Shikellamy relied on a balanced offensive attack, but senior quarterback Brody Rebuck made the difference in the Braves’ win.
The Wildcats, now still searching for their first win of the season, will look to bounce back Friday night when they host Montoursville.
