Lady Bucks tune up for postseason with 3-2 win over Jersey Shore

FARWELL- Bucktail tennis continued their hot streak on Friday afternoon against visiting Jersey Shore. The Lady Bucks finally broke their losing streak against PHAC opponents by edging the Lady Bulldogs 3-2 in a win that marked their fifth straight match victory as they will soon be gearing up for the PIAA District IV 2A team tournament.
Bucktail (10-1) received a number one win from Eva Sockman over Josie Geist, 6-2, 6-2. The Lady Bulldogs picked up a point at number two when Julia Herman downed Kendall Wagner 6-4, 6-0.
Bucktail got a huge win at number three when senior Lola English dropped Molly Dalton 6-0, 6-2.
Bucktail’s number one doubles sealed up the victory when McKenna Bissman and Kelsie Wagner defeated the Lady Bulldogs duo of Azlyn Guerrero and Emily Shemory 6-2, 6-4.
Bucktail dropped the second doubles match with Jersey Shore’s Rylee Allison and Kamryn Kowalski beat Riley Salizonni and Carrie Ditty 6-1, 6-4.
Jersey Shore fell to 5-9 on the season and will likely fail to qualify for the district team tournament.
Bucktail, who is heading for the district team tournament in a couple of weeks put themselves in a better position to be a top four team when seedings come out. They currently hold number in the standings.
The Lady Bucks will next be in action on Monday when they host Keystone Central rivals Central Mountain in what promises to be a challenge for Bucktail.
