Optimist’s Roundtable

By Martha Sykes

Our Bishop from the Methodist Church conference has been sending out emails lately about how much we need to work together as people of God as we see so much going on in our world today. He has asked us to pray but one thing he reminded us to do is to” Never grow weary of doing good!”

This reminded me of the words that John Wesley believed in thousands of years ago.
“Do all the good you can
By all the means you can
In all the ways you can
In all the places you can
At all the times you can
To all the people you can
As long as ever you can”

I believe our world needs us to do more good and as often as we can. Very often, I try to find the good in every day, so I have decided to keep a journal of the good things I hear about or a special God moment that I have encountered at a particular time.

There are many verses about doing good, but Matthew 5:16 is one of my favorites. It says,
“Let your light shine before others, so that they may say your good works and give glory to your Father”.

John Wesley was so committed to doing good and his belief was that individuals can make a difference through actions and works as we glorify God and reflect the love of Christ in our lives.
