Renovo Council Approves Water Authority Merger, New Police Vehicle Purchase, and Sets Halloween Hours

RENOVO – As local municipalities are in the midst of preparing a water merger, Renovo Council signed a resolution at their September meeting to merge the assets of the Western Clinton County Municipal Authority, with the assets of the Renovo Water Authority, South Renovo Water and Chapman Township Water Authority. The goal of uniting the three water departments has long been a wish for many involved and the reality of that happening has been solidified in recent months.

The merger has faced typical legal and linguistic obstacles, but nothing out of the ordinary and a smooth roll out is expected by officials.

The Renovo Council agreed to approve a USDA Grant in the amount of $50,000 which will go towards the purchase of a 2026 Interceptor Utility AWD for a new Renovo Police Department vehicle. The council will pick up the tab of $19,500 following the grant, but with an old payment expiring, the purchase will have a minimal effect on the budget as the balance of the new vehicle will play out as a 5-year payment plan as that of the previous monthly bill.

With fall and winter around the corner, the council voted to table the purchase of playground equipment for their 9th Street Park.

What has been seen as willful damage, council reported that someone purposely destroyed a large piece of playground equipment resulting in the cost of $1,842.41 which includes a slide and other pieces that will connect to the apparatus that remains unharmed.

It was unclear during the meeting whether security cameras mounted at the park caught the actor damaging the broken piece.

Mayor Gene Bruno noted that just prior to the meeting it was brought to his attention that a residence on 6th Street in the borough is using a generator full-time, an ordinance violation in town. Plans were made to notify the household of the violation.

With Halloween set to fall on a Friday night this year, council set trick-or-treating to run 6PM-8PM in the borough on October 31st.
