Woodward Supervisors Discuss Junk Vehicles, Field Conference of Pennsylvania Geologists
By Christopher Miller
WOODWARD TOWNSHIP – The Woodward Township Supervisors held a brief monthly meeting Tuesday evening.
A brief discussion was held pertaining to junk vehicles on township properties.
“It seems more are popping up in the township that are clearly not road legal and abandoned,” supervisor Kyle Coleman said.
“If it moves under its own power, it is not in violation of the ordinance,” solicitor Tom Rosamilia added. “I will look into the city’s ordinance and then we can discuss next steps.
Dunnstown Fire Company reviewed a quote to add additional radios to their equipment due to the county emergency services upgrade.
“We have a quote from Centre Communications for $10,760.10 for three more portable radios and one mobile, including all power supplies and coax cables,” supervisor Mike Fezter added.
The supervisors voted in favor of paying the invoice.
Farrandsville Road will be partially closed and down to one lane between Water Valley Road and West Croak Hollow Road on Friday, October 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for the Field Conference of PA Geologists. The closure will be on the north side of the road only.
This year, conference attendees will be visiting sites throughout Bradford, Tioga, Lycoming, and Clinton counties to study Devonian marginal marine depositional environments. Stops will include a visit to the Lock Haven Formation type section, the Red Hill Catskill Formation locality, and a quarry exposing an enigmatic “Catskill Formation” facies. Additionally, they will be visiting the Leidy gas storage field and Hyner Run State Park.
“The Field Conference of Pennsylvania Geologists is an annual conference for industry, government, academic, and student geologists working and studying in Pennsylvania. For over 90 years geologists have attended the conference at locations throughout Pennsylvania,” their website stated.
During the recreation report, Coleman updated the public that the new pickleball courts have been painted and are “looking nicer than the ones at Hanna Park.”
“They have a very nice, bright finished surface and are excellent for use in Riverview Park.”
Supervisors also mentioned that fall leaf collection might be earlier this year due to the leaves already changing color and beginning to fall. More information on this will be provided after the meeting in October.
Woodward Township set Halloween Trick-or-Treat hours for Friday, October 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The supervisors held a brief executive session before the meeting to discuss property legal matters.
