Wildcats Top Milton 2-0 in PHAC Play

MILL HALL – Central Mountain boys soccer earned a 2-0 victory over visiting Milton Tuesday night in a hard-fought PHAC matchup.

After a scoreless first half, the Wildcats struck in the 53rd minute when senior Griffin Confer connected with classmate Dylan Bechdel, who finished for his sixth goal of the season. Ten minutes later, Central Mountain extended the lead as Yurek Lamey found Yayfran Sanchez, who buried his first career varsity goal in the 63rd minute.

Milton had a chance to cut into the deficit midway through the second half, but a penalty kick rang off the post to keep the shutout intact.

The Wildcats controlled the tempo throughout, with the midfield dictating play and the backline containing Milton’s dangerous attacks with smart rotations and key tackles. Goalkeeper Jaggar Pardoe made three saves to secure the clean sheet.

With the win, Central Mountain improves to 5-2-2 on the season and will travel to Danville on Thursday for another conference test.
