Pine Creek Veterinary Associates Welcomes Dr. Nathan Zerwig and Completes State-of-the-Art Phase I Expansion
LOCK HAVEN — Pine Creek Veterinary Associates, led by Dr. Robert D. Reese and longtime associate Dr. Patrick Dubbs, is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Nathan Zerwig to its medical team. This announcement coincides with the completion of Phase I of the hospital’s multi-stage expansion, marking a new chapter in the clinic’s evolution while honoring its origins as the first animal hospital in Clinton County.
Pine Creek Veterinary Associates is located in the heart of the Susquehanna Valley on Route 150 East of Lock Haven. Dr. Robert H. Reese began his veterinary practice in Clinton County in 1960. Since then, Dr. Robert H. Reese and his son, Dr. Robert D. Reese, have established a legacy of delivering personalized, compassionate, and high-quality care for small animals. Now, sixty-five years later, Dr. Robert D. Reese is proud to guide the practice through this state-of-the-art expansion.
“This practice has always been about providing advanced veterinary medicine with the warmth of a family-owned clinic,” said Dr. Robert D. Reese, owner and veterinarian. “Completing this first stage of expansion and welcoming Dr. Zerwig allows us to continue our legacy while offering innovative veterinary services that meet today’s standards of care.”
The newly completed Phase I expansion introduces modern spaces and advanced technology, laying the foundation for Pine Creek’s growth into a full-service, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital that prioritizes both the client and pet experience. Key upgrades include:
- State-of-the-art exam rooms designed for efficiency, comfort, and low-stress visits
- A modernized treatment area with advanced diagnostics and improved patient flow
- Upgraded surgical and dental suites, equipped for laser and laparoscopic surgery, along with advanced dental care

With the upgraded hospital, Pine Creek Veterinary Associates continues to offer a full spectrum of veterinary services, including:
- Preventive care and wellness exams
- Vaccinations and parasite prevention
- Therapy laser

- Microchipping for permanent identification
- Pharmacy services for client convenience
- Nutritional counseling and senior pet care

Dr. Zerwig joins the practice from Columbia, Missouri, where he earned his degree in veterinary medicine at the University of Missouri’s College of Veterinary Medicine in Columbia. He earned his undergraduate degree in zoology from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. After completing vet school, Dr. Zerwig worked as a small animal general practitioner for two years before relocating to the Lock Haven area with his partner, Paige, their daughter, Ruth, and their dog Alfie.
Dr. Zerwig was introduced to veterinary medicine after volunteering at a local shelter during college. “I’ve always loved animals, and my time volunteering at the shelter sparked a passion for veterinary medicine and shelter medicine,” said Dr. Zerwig. He brings expertise in preventive care, internal medicine, and client education—complementing Pine Creek’s mission of compassionate, individualized care.
“I am honored to join Pine Creek Veterinary Associates,” said Dr. Zerwig. “This hospital represents the best of both worlds: a trusted history in the community and the advanced services pet owners want today. I look forward to working with families to help their pets thrive at every life stage.”
For 65 years, the Reese family has been a cornerstone of pet health in the Lock Haven community. From its founding in 1960 by Dr. Robert H. Reese to its expansion under Dr. Robert D. Reese, the practice’s mission has remained the same: to combine compassionate pet care with cutting-edge medicine.
“Our mission is the same today as when my father started his practice: deliver excellent care, treat every pet like family, and every owner like a neighbor,” said Dr. Reese. “With this expansion and Dr. Zerwig’s arrival, we’re proud to continue his legacy of serving our community and their pets for the next 65 years and beyond.”
