Wildcats Battle to 1-1 Draw at Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT – The Central Mountain boys soccer team came away with a 1-1 tie on the road Thursday night against Williamsport.

The Millionaires struck first, scoring 13 minutes into the match to grab an early lead. Central Mountain responded by creating several chances throughout the remainder of the half, but the Wildcats couldn’t find the equalizer before the break.

In the second half, senior Griffin Confer connected with classmate Dylan Bechdel on the left wing. Bechdel beat his defender and fired a shot inside the near post to even the score at 1-1. The assist was Confer’s fifth of the season, while Bechdel now leads the team with five goals.

The Wildcats continued to pressure in overtime, but Williamsport goalkeeper Max Fink made several key stops to keep the hosts level. Central Mountain keeper Jaggar Pardoe was equally strong, recording six saves to secure the draw.

The Wildcats (4-2-2) will get a much-needed break before returning to action Tuesday when they host Milton.
