Former Salvation Army Thrift Store Building Finds Refreshed Life

LOCK HAVEN – A new community thrift store is getting ready to open in downtown Lock Haven.
Give Back: A Community Thrift Store held a “soft opening” last weekend.
“We offer affordable items, all with the goal of supporting and giving back to our local community. Stop by and discover treasures while knowing your purchase helps make a difference—because giving back never goes out of style,” their social media page outlines.
Pictures on their Facebook Page show a team of people, primarily the Hilty family, cleaning the interior, scrubbing and polishing floors, hanging merchandise and adjusting slightly loved furniture into attractive displays throughout the store.
Owners Jen and Dan Hilty and their family have a history of giving back to their community, as Dan’s father, Dan Sr., was heavily involved with the Lock Haven Salvation Army serving as a minister, having retired in 2005 after more than 23 years of service.
“A huge thank you to the community; without the donations, love, and word of mouth none of this would be possible,” the Hilty’s shared on their business Facebook page age.
The soft opening will be cash or check only until the proper cash register and credit card systems arrive at the store.
