Lady Wildcats Fall in Double Overtime Battle

MILL HALL – Central Mountain girls’ soccer came up just short in a hard-fought contest on Saturday, falling to Penns Valley 2-1 in double overtime at Malinak Stadium.

The Wildcats struck first when senior Leah Karstetter found the back of the net unassisted at the 13:53 mark of the first half. Central Mountain held that lead deep into regulation before the Lady Rams tied the game in the 87th minute on a goal from Ellie Ronig, assisted by Olivia Homan.

The match remained deadlocked through the first overtime, but Penns Valley broke through in the second extra period as Elle Dinges scored off a pass from Ronig in the 108th minute to secure the 2-1 win.

The loss evened Central Mountain’s record at 1-1, while Penns Valley improved to 1-2.

Next up, the Lady Wildcats will host Altoona on Wednesday at Malinak Stadium.
