Bucktail picks up forfeit win over Renaissance Academy
GLEN MILLS- In probably one of the strangest victories in Bucktail football history, the Bucks ended a 13-game slide against Renaissance Academy by way of a forfeit by a 2-0 score.
The forfeit came about due to Renaissance Academy not scheduling referees to officiate the contest between the Bucks and the host Knights. There also was no chain crew present.
It was Bucktail’s first victory since October 6, 2023 when they downed Elk County Catholic on the road in St. Mary’s.
“7pm came and their team never took the field.” said head coach Kevin Ransom “At 7:10, I was summoned by their head coach and he informed me that the assignor never assigned officials for the contest.”
Ransom and the Knights’ head coach made several phone calls in an attempt to find officials, Only three of the five needed according to PIAA rules were available. When 8pm rolled around the game was cancelled, due to Bucktail’s four-plus hour trip home.
The victory also was Ransom’s first career victory, but on Friday night his Bucks will look to get a win on the field when they travel to Moniteau. That road game will have the Bucks on the road for just over three hours.
Moniteau lost Friday night at Port Allegany 66-8 and are 1-1 on the season.
