Central Mountain Runs Strong at Bear Mountain River Run Invitational
LOCK HAVEN – Central Mountain’s cross country teams continued their season Saturday at the Bear Mountain River Run Invitational, hosted by Lock Haven University. The Wildcats faced a deep field of competition from across Central PA.
Girls Race
The Lady Wildcats earned a third-place team finish with 102 points. Senior Grace Keohane led the way, claiming 6th overall in 20:35.20. She was followed closely by Emma Wolfe (20th, 22:32.10), Aubrey Eiler (25th, 23:06.40), Calienna Cardinal (40th, 24:58.10), and Liz McCloskey (43rd, 25:03.40). Depth came from Kaylie McCloskey (44th, 25:04.50) and Abigail Winslow (51st, 25:48.70). Hughesville captured the team title, with Williamsport finishing runner-up.
Boys Race
The Wildcat boys placed 8th overall with 204 points. Senior Damien Winner paced the squad, finishing 26th in 17:50.80. He was joined in the scoring by Riley Gonzalez (33rd, 18:37.00), Shane Walker (54th, 19:14.40), Shayden Hill (61st, 19:40.50), and Xian Deems (69th, 20:00.00).
Additional Wildcat efforts came from Gabriel Houser (81st, 20:39.00), Latrell Walker (84th, 20:44.10), and younger runners Myles Winslow, Liam Darwin, Cody Cardinal, Jaxon Hardy, Rhys Swift, and Conner Gray, who gained varsity-level experience. Hughesville also swept the boys title with a team score of 27.
Takeaway
The Bear Mountain River Run Invitational gave Central Mountain valuable early-season competition. The girls showed depth with Keohane’s top-10 medal finish and a strong supporting pack, while the boys continued to develop their lineup with multiple runners grouped within a minute of each other.
