Prayer in the Parking Lot: A Community Gathering for KCSD Schools
Prayer in the Parking Lot:
As the summer winds down and a new school year begins, members of the KCSD community are invited to come together in a powerful way: through prayer. On Monday, August 25 at 6:30 PM (rain or shine), parents, students, teachers, grandparents, neighbors, Bus drivers and friends will gather in the parking lots of every KCSD school to pray for the year ahead.
The vision is simple yet impactful—fill every parking lot with people who believe in the power of prayer, and in turn, ask God to fill every hallway inside the schools with peace, encouragement, and hope. This effort is about more than just an event; it is about surrounding the entire district in prayerful support before the first bell rings.
How it works: Participants are encouraged to sign up for a specific school so that the community can spread out and cover each building. At 6:30 PM on August 25, groups will meet at their chosen school’s parking lot and pray together for students, teachers, staffulty, administrators, and families connected to that building. The time together is informal but intentional, focused on asking God for safety, joy, and strength in the school year ahead.
This gathering is not just for a select few—it is for everyone who cares about the future of the district’s children and educators. Whether you are a parent preparing to send your child off to kindergarten, a retired teacher with a heart for education, or a neighbor who simply wants to see young people thrive, you are warmly invited to participate.
“Let’s pray for hope in the hallways this year,” the event announcement reads, capturing the heart behind this movement. The act of standing together on pavement outside the schools is a symbolic reminder that the community’s faith and support reach beyond the walls of the classroom.
Special thanks go to Brad McCloskey, a Facilitator at ROBB, for spearheading this initiative and rallying the community around such a meaningful cause.
To be part of Prayer in the Parking Lot, you can sign up through the event page on Facebook or just show up to your local school.
Please note: This is not a KCSD-sponsored event.
