Area football teams begin heat acclimation

FARWELL- Bucktail, Central Mountain and Jersey Shore all began their PIAA mandated heat acclimation conditioning on Monday. The PIAA requires each student athlete to participate in 15 hours of heat acclimation before they can compete in full equipment practicing, including full contact play.
Bucktail had an impressive 22 players at practice on Monday, a huge turnout for the state’s smallest public 1A program.
The Bucks are set to travel to travel to Columbia Montour Vo Tech on August 16 for a scrimmage and will open regular season on August 22 in Emporium against Cameron County in their regular season opener. This will be a D9 League Region 3 contest.
In Mill Hall heat acclimation is also underway for Central Mountain. The Wildcats scrimmage will also be on August 16 with a trip to Loyalsock. Central Mountain will also begin their 2025 season on the road with a trip to Lewistown to meet District 6 rivals Mifflin County.
For PIAA District IV 4A finalists of a season ago, the Jersey Shore Bulldogs heat acclimation has begun too. Shore opens with a scrimmage against another Distrrict IV powerhouse in Troy on August 16 at Thompson Street Stadium before they host Dallas Area on August 22.
