Renovo Police Department News

On 07/18/25 at approximately 1632 hrs, the Renovo Police Department were called to a crash involving a passenger car and a train.  This occurred on Aspen Rd just south of Renovo Rd at the railroad crossing in Chapman Township.  The investigation revealed that a 2008 Subaru Impreza, operated by a 17 year old female from Lock Haven, was driving southbound on Aspen Rd.  The driver failed to yield at a yield sign prior to the railroad crossing.  Rather, the driver stopped on the railroad tracks directly in front of an oncoming train.  The Norfolk Southern train was eastbound on the railroad tracks and it was impossible for the train to stop within the clear distance ahead.  The train struck the passenger car, which contained 4 occupants who ranged in age from 13 to 17.  The occupants sustained injuries ranging from suspected serious injuries to suspected minor injuries.  The occupants were transported to area hospitals via ambulance and helicopter.  The Norfolk Southern employees on board the train were not injured.  The passenger car sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene by Martin Motor Co.  Assisting agencies included the Renovo Fire Dept, South Renovo Fire Dept, Chapman Twp Fire Dept, Clinton County EMA, Bucktail EMS, Lock Haven EMS, Flemington EMS, and Geisinger Life Flight helicopter.

Renovo Police have charged Heather Obrien, 51, of Renovo with Retail Theft, following an incident that occurred at the Dollar General, located at 13635 Renovo Road in Renovo.  During the evening of July 10, 2025, Obrien allegedly removed merchandise valued at $16 from the store by concealing it in her pocket. Obrien has been sent a summons through Magisterial District Court 25-3-03.

Woodward Township Police Department News

On June 7, 2025, at 11:00 p.m., Robert Joseph Miller was stopped for not having his vehicle lights turned on. Upon checking his driver’s license, officers discovered that Miller is required to have an Ignition Interlock Device installed in any vehicle he drives due to previous DUI convictions, and the car he was driving did not have the device installed.

On June 22, 2025, at 6:33 p.m., Thomas Earl Shadle Jr. was stopped for a suspected traffic violation on Woodward Avenue. During the traffic stop, it was determined that Shadle had an outstanding warrant out of Centre County Court for a DUI charge. Upon taking Shadle into custody, he was found to have a grinder used to process marijuana in addition to a small amount of marijuana in his possession. 

All persons accused of committing a crime, and any discussion thereof, are presumed to be innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
