Keystone 8-10 All-Stars Fall in 9-Inning Marathon to Pottsville, 20-19
MILL HALL– In a wild back-and-forth battle to open sectional play at Long Run Park, the Keystone 8-10 All-Star team fell just short, losing a 20-19 extra-inning thriller to Pottsville on Saturday afternoon.
Keystone came out swinging, scoring six runs in the first inning and continuing to produce throughout the game. The team pushed the game into extra innings and took the lead in the top of the ninth, but Pottsville rallied with two runs in the bottom half to walk it off.
Keystone racked up 16 hits in the high-scoring affair. Logan Hanley and Logan Strouse each had three hits to lead the offense. Freddy Gundlach and Whitt McCloskey both tallied two hits, as did Bentley Leone. Greyson Cowfer, Westin Heeman, Easton Feerrar, and Mason Wright each added one hit.
It was a group effort on the mound, with Carter Shellman getting the start and Whitt McCloskey, Bentley Leone, Westin Heeman, Easton Feerrar, Logan Hanley, and Cooper Robinson all seeing time on the hill. The pitching staff combined to allow 14 hits and struck out seven.
With the loss, Keystone moves into the loser’s bracket and will look to bounce back in Sunday’s elimination game.
