LOCK HAVEN – With her aunt, Clinton County Prothonotary Marie Vilello videotaping the moment, Sara Stringfellow has been administered the oath of office to serve on Lock Haven City Council.

Stringfellow, niece of former Lock Haven Mayor Rick Vilello, was selected by city council earlier this month to fill the council vacancy. She was sworn in Monday night by acting mayor Jonathan Bravard.

Stringfellow, 20 years of age, just completed her sophomore year at Lock Haven University.

Her selection at council’s May 4 meeting ended the domino effect caused when Vilello resigned in early March to accept a position with the Gov. Tom Wolf administration in Harrisburg. Council member Bravard subsequently was selected by council to finish out the final year of what would have been the final term of Vilello’s tenure as mayor.

Stringfellow will be on the Tuesday ballot, seeking one of the Democratic nominations for a full term on council.
