LHU Baseball falls to Cal (Pa.) in home opener; Game two postponed

LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven baseball team’s offense was clicking on Saturday afternoon in the Bald Eagles’ home opener, but California (Pa.) rallied late to steal a 13-12 victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.

Game two of today’s action was postponed due to rainy conditions and pushed to a later date, which will be announced at GoLHU.com.

Lock Haven moves to 10-12 on the season and 0-3 in PSAC West, while the Vulcans improve to 15-2 and 3-0 in conference play. Cal swept yesterday’s doubleheader at home.

Game 1 Recap: Cal 13 – Lock Haven 12

In game one, the Bald Eagles belted out a season-high 17 hits and scored 12 runs, while six hitters recorded multiple base knocks.

Nathan Wise, Morgen Billotte, Bryce Vincent, Ethan Nagy, Nick White, and Lance Baldensperger all finished with two or more base hits for The Haven.

Wise and Billotte both went 3-for-4, while Wise drove in a run and stole a base and Billotte scored twice.

Vincent and Nagy drove in three runs each, while Robert Furino drove in a pair. Zachary McEllroy added a double and scored twice.

The Bald Eagles brought 12 men to the plate in the fourth inning and scored nine runs to build a 12-3 lead after four innings of play.

However, the Vulcans responded with a run in the fifth, seven runs in the sixth and the game-winning runs in the seventh to secure the come-from-behind victory.

Jason Labrador got the start for The Haven and went five innings, while finishing with a pair of strikeouts.

The Lock Haven baseball team will be taking on Mansfield on Wednesday, March 26 at Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pa. It will be a nine-inning game with first pitch slated for 2 p.m.
