CM Boys Tennis Ready to Step Into New Roles for 2025 Season

MILL HALL – With the departure of key seniors from last season, the Central Mountain boys tennis team is looking for new leaders to step up and carry on its winning tradition. Head coach Jeff Brinker is confident that this year’s squad has the potential to rise to the challenge.

Senior Wesley Cowart, along with juniors Joey McCluskey and Tim Brinker, will be stepping into leadership roles following the graduation of David Lindsay, Asher Talbot, and Joe Caimi. They will be tasked with setting the tone for the season and helping guide a group that includes both returning talent and newcomers eager to make an impact.

Among those expected to contribute are Brayden Spedding, Ben Brinker, and senior Mitchell Borges, all of whom bring valuable experience to the court. Additionally, Owen Stringfellow, Jeremiah Plummer, and Liam McLaughlin will be competing for time at varsity doubles as they look to establish themselves in the lineup.

With several players taking on new roles this season, the team will be adapting as the year progresses. “The team will be mixing things up from last year. Several guys will be playing new roles on the team this year. I believe each guy will develop nicely and do their best in the role they are in,” Brinker said.

The schedule will present plenty of challenges, and the Wildcats will need to be ready for tough competition. “Each team we play will be a new challenge since we have guys playing in different roles this year. The teams to look out for in our conference are Shikellamy and Selinsgrove. They have several strong players returning this year. Our team will do just fine,” Brinker added.

Preparation for the season has been in full swing, with many players dedicating time in the offseason to refine their skills. “Several guys went to South Williamsport or hit here locally in the summer and fall in the offseason to prepare for this year,” Brinker said.

As for expectations, Brinker wants to see the team improve and compete to the best of its ability. “My goals for the team are to improve every day, give our best effort, and have fun doing what they love to do,” he said.

The 2025 Wildcats will feature a mix of returning talent and fresh faces, with the first six players from last season’s roster returning. The team consists of Mitchell Borges (12), Ben Brinker (10), Tim Brinker (11), Wesley Cowart (12), Joey McCluskey (11), Brayden Spedding (10), Jeremiah Plummer (9), Owen Stringfellow (11), and Liam McLaughlin (11).

With a strong work ethic and a commitment to growth, Central Mountain is set to take on the season with confidence and determination.
