Central Mountain Girls Fall to Hollidaysburg in District 6 Class 5A Semifinals
HOLLIDAYSBURG – The Central Mountain girls basketball team saw its season come to an end in the District 6 Class 5A semifinals, falling to top-seeded Hollidaysburg, 66-28, on Tuesday night.
The Lady Wildcats (10-12) struggled to keep pace with the undefeated Laurel Highlands champions, as Hollidaysburg (22-3) set the tone early with a dominant 21-point first quarter. Bella Vent led the charge for the Lady Tigers, scoring a game-high 19 points, while Makenna Weimert added 15.
Central Mountain found some offensive rhythm in the second and third quarters, with Lena Walker knocking down two three-pointers to finish with eight points. Taylor Doyle led the Wildcats with 10 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
Despite a competitive effort in the middle quarters, the Wildcats were held to just two points in the fourth as Hollidaysburg closed out the game with another strong defensive performance.
Hollidaysburg, which remained unbeaten in Laurel Highlands play this season, advances to the district final as they look to continue their postseason run.
