LHU’s Robinson’s monster stat line fuels Women’s Basketball to victory over Shepherd

LOCK HAVEN– The Lock Haven women’s basketball team led from start to finish in a complete-team effort to upend Shepherd 71-60 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 15).

With the victory, the Bald Eagles are winners of three straight games and improve to 17-7 overall and 12-6 in the PSAC. Lock Haven remains in first place in the Eastern Division and has officially clinched a berth to the 2024-25 PSAC Championship Tournament.

Shepherd falls to 5-19 on the season and 2-15 in the PSAC.

Alana Robinson finished with an unprecedented stat line, as the junior secured a “5×5” in points, assists, rebounds, steals and blocks.

Robinson’s absolutely remarkable stat line included 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists, five blocks and five assists.

Rhyln Rouse dominated off the bench and finished with 24 points, five rebounds and knocked down 11-of-17 shots.

Kiera Baughman netted 16 points, dished out six assists and Jenadia Jordan pulled in six boards.

Lock Haven continued its run of hot shooting and finished the game over 50 percent (31-of-59) from the field. The Bald Eagles forced 20 turnovers and held a 31-20 advantage on the glass.

In the first period, The Haven opened the game on an 11-2 run heading into the first media timeout. Robinson and Rouse each dropped six points in the opening period and the Bald Eagles led 17-11 after ten minutes of action.

In the second quarter, seven Rams’ turnovers fueled the Bald Eagles to take the period 21-10 and head into the break leading 38-21.

Lock Haven held a double-figure lead for the opening 13 minutes of the second half. However, Shepherd knocked down four straight shots, including two from deep, to cut the Bald Eagles lead to 56-47 with seven minutes to go.

However, Baughman drilled a 3-pointer on the next Bald Eagles’ possession and Lock Haven never led by less than 10 the rest of the way en route to victory.

Saturday was also the Lock Haven women’s basketball program’s Alumni Day, a day long celebration capped off by the Bald Eagles’ Night at the Races event. Robinson and Jordan were honored prior to tip-off for scoring their 1000-career point earlier this season.

The Bald Eagles will hit the road and visit Millersville at 1 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 22) for a PSAC contest.
