Fire Destroys Home on W. Bald Eagle Street; No Injuries Reported

LOCK HAVEN – A Wednesday night fire caused significant damage to a home on W. Bald Eagle Street, but all occupants were able to escape safely.

At approximately 9 p.m. on February 12, the Lock Haven Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 107 W. Bald Eagle Street in the city. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire at the rear of the building. A second alarm was struck, bringing additional assistance from the Avis, Flemington, Castanea, Dunnstown, and Jersey Shore fire departments.

Firefighters worked for about three hours to bring the fire under control before returning to their stations. According to Fire Chief Tyler Wooding, the blaze was caused by discarded ash near the rear deck, which ignited the decking and spread into the interior of the structure.

The family inside the home at the time of the fire was able to exit safely, and no injuries were reported. The estimated property loss is approximately $140,000.
