LHU’s Jordan scores 1000th career point, Women’s Basketball erupts for 93 points in victory over Mansfield
LOCK HAVEN-Jenadia Jordan scored her 1000th career point and dished out 13 assists to lead the Lock Haven women’s basketball team to a convincing 93-50 victory over Mansfield in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) game on Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 12) inside Thomas Fieldhouse.
Jordan became the 17th player in program history to reach the 1000-point milestone, doing so in under three-complete seasons.
Jordan joins fellow junior Alana Robinson in the Bald Eagles’ 1000-point club after Robinson reached the milestone last Wednesday.
With the victory, the Bald Eagles remain in first place in the PSAC East and improve to 16-7 overall and 11-6 in conference play. The Haven has won two games in a row and officially secures the season sweep over Mansfield.
The Mounties fall to 9-14 overall and 5-12 in the PSAC.
Lock Haven secured season-highs in points (93), field goals made (40), rebounds (56) and assists 30.
In a game where she will be remembered for a scoring milestone, it was her passing that told the story, as Jordan dished out a career- and game-high 13 assists, while also making three steals.
Robinson led all scorers with 21 points (10-of-16), while adding six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals.
Madeline Evans netted 19 points, pulled in seven rebounds and blocked two shots.
Kiera Baughman rounded out the Bald Eagles starters’ in double figures with 13 points and four assists.
Rhlyn Rouse powered the second unit with 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
The Bald Eagles flew out to a 20-6 lead after the first quarter, thanks to tenacious defense that held the Mounties to just 19 percent (3-of-16) shooting from the field. The Bald Eagles shot 53 percent (9-of-17) on offense during the run, while also knocked down 2-of-3 shots from behind the arch.
In the second quarter, Jordan picked off a Mansfield pass and went coast-to-coast for a layup for surpass the 1000-career point milestone, while pushing the Bald Eagles first-half lead to over 20 points.
Lock Haven led 47-25 at half time, led by 10 assists from Jordan and 12 points from Evans.
The Bald Eagles didn’t slow down in the second half and scored a game-high 28 points on 12-of-16 shooting in the fourth period to run away with the conference victory.
