LHU Women’s Basketball bounces back with road victory at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG– The Lock Haven women’s basketball team went 12-of-12 at the foul line in the fourth quarter to clinch a 65-57 victory on the road at Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 8) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.

Lock Haven improves to 15-7 overall and remains in first place in the PSAC East with a 10-6 conference mark. Shippensburg falls to 8-14 on the season and 5-11 in conference play.

As a team, the Bald Eagles shot a scorching 20-of-21 at the free-throw line

Kiera Baughman led the Bald Eagles in scoring with 17 points, while going 8-of-8 at the free throw line.

Jenadia Jordan finished with 15 points and knocked down 7-of-7 shots at the foul line. The junior is just one-point shy of reaching the 1,000-point milestone for her career.

Back-to-back PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week Alana Robinson finished with three steals and 10 points.

Rhlyn Rouse led the second unit with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Madeline Evans was dominant on the glass once again and finished with a team-high 11 rebounds.

The Haven shot 57 percent from the field in the second quarter, while turning up the defensive pressure to limit the Raiders to 38 percent shooting.

The Bald Eagles couldn’t create separation in the third period as both teams netted 16 points, but The Haven knocked down a perfect 12-of-12 shots at the charity stripe to outscore Shippensburg 18-12 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Michelle Olak led the Raiders with a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double.

The Bald Eagles return home and will host Mansfield inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Wednesday (Feb. 12) at 5:30 p.m. in a PSAC Eastern Division contest.
