LHU Men’s Basketball downed by West Chester

LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven men’s basketball team fell to West Chester 75-56 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) contest inside Thomas Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 1).

Lock Haven moves to 10-9 overall and 7-6 in the PSAC. First-place West Chester improves 17-4 on the season and 12-2 in conference play.

Eli Washington was the high-point man for the Bald Eagles as he finished with 16 points, four assists and four rebounds.

Isaiah Stewart netted 12 points and dished out four assists.

Stewart, Washington and Blake Deegan all knocked down a pair of three pointers.

Kevin Coleman added 10 points and five rebounds.

In the first half, Lock Haven came out clicking and built a 9-2 lead through the opening four minutes, but the Golden Rams forced nine turnovers and shot over 50 percent from the field the rest of the way to carry a 45-34 advantage heading into the break.

Both teams knocked down five triples in the first half, but West Chester used extra possessions to hold a 17-11 advantage in total makes.

In the second half, The Haven kept pace with the Golden Rams to remain within striking distance and got as close as 12 (59-47) following back-to-back layups by Washington and Stewart.

However, that was as close as the Bald Eagles could get and West Chester closed out the victory.

Elijah Allen led the way for West Chester with 17 points and eight rebounds.

The Bald Eagles hit the road for a PSAC East contest at Kutztown on Wednesday night (Feb. 5) at 7: 30 p.m.
