Bucks suffer setback at Meadowbrook Christian
By Bees O’Brien
MILTON- Two nights removed from their dominant victory over South Williamsport, the Bucktail boys basketball team suffered a tough setback against District IV 1A rivals Meadowbrook Christian.
The host Lions took advantage of 13 first half turnovers and a 0 for 8 shooting effort from beyond the arc to build a 28-19 first half lead and never looked back.
The Bucks failed to gain any ground in the third quarter, as Meadowbrook maintained their 9-point lead at 43-34 heading into the final quarter of play.
Bucktail outscored Meadowbrook 16-15 in the final quarter, but It wasn’t enough to dig themselves out of their first half hole.
The Bucks had just 4 turnovers in the second half, but a 2 for 22 shooting night from the three-point line doomed a Bucktail team that needed a big marquee win against a potential district playoff opponent and more importantly power points to help solidify a home court quarterfinal contest.
Brody Pentz led the Bucks with 20 points. Gavin Pick was the only other Bucks to score in double digits with 10 points.
Bucktail will next hit the courts on Wednesday when they look to avenge a narrow loss to St. John Neumann earlier in the season.
