Wildcat Team in First Place, Have Three in Semifinals

ALLPORT-It was another of those long days of wrestling at the 46-team Ultimate Warrior Tournament at West Branch High School and after day one the Wildcats of Central Mountain are sitting in first place with three wrestlers advancing to the championship semifinals.
Making their way into the championship semifinals are Gavin Heverly (114), Aiden Kunes (127) and Dalton Perry (145). The Wildcats have Luke Garman (127), Patrick Tarantella (133), Luke Ananea (152), Dalton McDermott (160) and Hayes Henry (285) still wrestling in the consolations.
Heverly (now 23-5) made his way into the semifinals with a 7-3 win over Tyler Boyle (23-7) of Hickory in the quarterfinals. Heverly had defeated Boyle by a 7-6 count in the Mid-Winter Mayhem tournament a couple weeks ago. In the semifinals the third seeded Heverly will face second seeded Caleb Hummel (26-3) of Philipsburg-Osceola. Hummel recorded his 101 win in the tournament and is headed to Bloomsburg University.
Kunes punched his ticket to the semifinals with as solid 15-3 major over sixth seeded Griffin Tinsman of Marion Center, it was Kunes second win over Tinsman, as he defeated him 13-3 in the Mid-Winter Mayhem Tournament. The second seeded Kunes (26-5) will face second seeded Brady Slicker (28-4) of Hickory in the semifinals. Slicker was eighth in the state last season, but Kunes defeated Slicker 10-4 in the Mid-Winter Mayhem Tournament.
Top seeded Dalton Perry has had little trouble thus far in the tournament, as he recorded a fall in 1:21 of the first period of Mike Reardon (17-12) of Hickory in the quarterfinal round. In the championship semifinals, Perry (26-2) will face fourth seeded Greydon Gustas (21-5) of Reynolds.
Perry has gone 3-0 in the tournament thus far and has recorded three falls, which gives him 90 career falls thus far in his career, which moves him past former Bald Eagle-Nittany three-time state champion Terry Williams, who was third on the Clinton County list with 88 career falls. The top spot belongs to former Central Mountain two-time state champion Andrew Alton with 122 falls and second place belongs to his brother, former three-time state champion Dylan Alton with 101 career falls on the Clinton County All-time list.
Garman (127), Tarantella (133), Ananea (152), McDermott (160) and Henry (285) will all move into the consolation fourth round Saturday morning. Cael Dorman (107), Jaggar Pardoe (133), Hayes Donley (139), Dakoda Packer (152), Jacob Nyman (172), Todd Caris (189) and Josh Fravel (215) all lost in the consolation second round to be eliminated. Collin Bauman (121) dropped a 3-2 decision in the consolation third round to be eliminated.
Central Mountain leads the team race with 111.5 points, while Hickory is a close second with 104.5 points and Derry Township out of District 7 is right behind in third with 104 points. Mifflin County currently sits in sixth place with 91.5 points, Bald Eagle Area is ninth with 78 points and Hollidaysburg sits in 11trh place with 69.5 points. Bald Eagle Area is wrestling without standout Caden Judice who is not entered in the tournament.
