Phoenix Place Fourth in Gauntlet Duals

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN – The Sugar Valley Rural Charter School Phoenix posted a 2-3 dual meet record at the PM Gauntlet Duals Tournament at Blue Mountain High School, which allowed the Phoenix to finish in fourth place in the six team field of the PM Gauntlet Duals Tournament.
The Phoenix lost their first round match to Blue Mountain by a 70-6 score, then in round two they dropped a 42-27 match to Tri-Valley. The Phoenix bounced back and defeated Valley View by a 48-30 count in round three and then defeated William Allen by a 30-30 score in round four. In the dual meet that determined third place, the Phoenix fell to Pleasant Valley by a 54-21 score.
Blue Mountain won the tournament by finishing a perfect 5-0, while Tri-Valley went 4-1 to take second place. With the win over the Phoenix, Pleasant Valley finished in third and the Phoenix in fourth. Valley View finished in fifth with a 1-4 mark and William Allen went 0-5 to round out the field.
Senior Jarren McCloskey led the Phoenix on the day with a 4-1 mark and three falls to his credit. Wyatt Conoway, Koda Mincer and Tobias Conoway all posted 3-2 marks, as Tobias Conoway and Mincer both recorded two falls for the day.
Hunter Berry, Taylor Cantolina and Dakota Jodun all had two wins on the day, while Logan Leland, Brandon Galentine, Gavin Matter and Leroy Culvey all added one win apiece.
The Phoenix now stand at 3-3 on the dual meet season and will travel to Mifflintown on Monday and battle Juniata and then return home on Wednesday, December 18 to host Sullivan County.
