LHU Men’s Wrestling falls on the road at Rutgers
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Division I Lock Haven men’s wrestling team traveled to New Jersey to face No. 17 Rutgers on Friday, Dec. 6. The Scarlet Knights won the dual 34-6.
The match started at 149 pounds with Lucas Kapusta taking on No. 31 Andrew Clark.
Kapusta and Clark traded escape points to send the match to overtime. From there, Kapusta scored the winning takedown for the 4-1 decision victory in overtime.
No. 14 Anthony Noto won in a 10-7 decision over No. 5 Dylan Shawver. Noto found himself down 4-3 but a reversal and nearfall points secured the upset victory. Noto is now 9-1 on the season.
No. 33 Nick Stampoulos dropped his match against Conner Harer 1-0 at 157. Harer earned an escape in the second period.
At 184, No. 28 Colin Fegley fell in a close 4-3 decision to Shane Cartagena-Walsh.
Lock Haven moves to 1-1 while Rutgers moves to 4-2.
