No. 17 LHU Women’s Wrestling competes at Adrian Invitational, Favara soars to individual title
ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 17 Lock Haven women’s wrestling team returned to action at the Adrian Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 10. Freshman Alyssa Favara claimed gold at 207 with three pins and one tech fall.
Lock Haven finished tenth in the team standings.
Favara went a perfect 5-0 and won the 207-pound bracket. She opened up the day with back-to-back pins, the first coming in 35 seconds over Grand Valley State’s Aaliyah Grandberry. Favara needed 25 seconds to defeat Schreiner’s Natalie Espinoza by pin to advance to the quarterfinals.
In the first-place bout, Favara soared past North Central’s Caroline Ward by fall, needing just 43 seconds.
Last week (Nov. 3), Favara claimed gold at the Princeton Open after a 4-0 day.
Azariah Moore (180) placed sixth. Moore went 3-3 with a tech fall.
Lily Sherer finished seventh at 131. Sherer went 5-2 on the day with three pins and one tech fall. Sherer won by fall in 1:39 in the seventh-place match over Grand Valley State’s Hannah Palise.
Avry Ryhal placed eighth at 160 after going 3-3 with two pins and one tech fall. Ryhal dropped the seventh-place match by decision.
Presley McCandlish (160) made her debut with Lock Haven and finished 3-2 with a pin and a tech fall.
