LHU Swimming defeats Lycoming on the road
WILLIAMSPORT– The Lock Haven swimming team went on the road and defeated Lycoming College, 178-43, in a non-conference meet on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 26).
With the victory, The Haven improves to 1-1 on the young season.
The Bald Eagles excelled all afternoon from start to finish and brought home gold in every individual event and adding another first-place finish in one of two relay events.
The quartet of Finley Musser, Sydney Houck, Emma Pequignot and Marisa Gachette won the 400-yard medley relay by 14 seconds, crossing the finish line in 4:38.32.
Holly Cleworth placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle, with a swim of 11:54.62.
Emma Pequignot won gold in the 200-yard butterfly (2:33.48) and 400-yard IM (5:17.54). Alaina Cane also won a pair of races, including the 50- (27.32) and 100-yard freestyle (1:00.37).
Sydney Houck added first-place finishes in two events, as she won the 100- (1:13.29) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:40.69).
Madison Bortner continues to impress in her rookie season and won the 500-yard freestyle with a swim of 5:53.19. Fellow rookies Maria Painter, Martyna Maley and Musser also brought home first-place finishes. Painter won the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.91) and Musser won the 200-yard free (2:17.30), while Maley was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke (1:11.76).
Nora Craig rounded out the group of first-place finishers by winning the 200-yard backstroke with a swim of 2:30.73).
