RENOVO – State police have charged the husband of a previously missing Renovo woman with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse, this after her body was found in Halls Run outside South Renovo.

William “B.J.” Snyder was arraigned Saturday night on the charges before District Judge Joseph Sanders and remains in the Clinton County Correctional Facility in default of $500,000 bail. The charges stem from the Easter Sunday disappearance of Snyder’s wife Kelley Jo. She had been missing until earlier this Saturday when police said they were investigating the discovery of a female body in Noyes Township near South Renovo; that body proved to be the missing woman.

The next release from police, Saturday night, said Snyder “was charged with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse … and the investigation continues.”
These events flowed quickly after Snyder had been taken into custody on Friday in Horseheads, NY, where he had traveled after making police aware of a ransom note demanding $60,000 for his wife’s return.

According to authorities, Snyder told police he took his wife’s body from their Fourth Street, Renovo home to the Halls Run location, later telling police she was missing. After his apprehension, police said, he said he also had created the ransom note.
