LHU Women’s Soccer downs Mansfield 2-1 on the road

MANSFIELD– Elizabeth Shultz scored the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute to lead the Lock Haven women’s soccer team to a 2-1 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division victory over Mansfield on the road on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 16).

With the victory, the Bald Eagles improve to 2-7-3 overall and 2-7-1 in the PSAC East. The Mounties fall to 0-9-3 overall and 0-9-1 in the conference.

Aleigha Rieppel opened the scoring for the Bald Eagles, as she connected for her first goal of the season off an assist by Evelyn Ciaccia to give The Haven a 1-0 edge in the 32nd minute of play.

However, the Mounties connected for the equalizer midway through the second half to even the score at 1-1.

With just over six minutes to go, the Bald Eagles answered with what proved to be the game-winning goal when Shultz found the back on the net at the 83:51 mark. The goal was the first of the season for Shultz.

The Haven defense held strong to close the game out and secure the victory.

Megan Miller earned the win in net for The Haven and finished with four saves.

On the attack, Lock Haven finished with seven shots on goal, led by a pair by Rieppel.
