PA State Police – Lamar Police Blotter October 8, 2024:

Harassment w/Physical Contact
LAMAR TOWNSHIP– On October 4, 2024, PSP Lamar responded to Long Run Road for a report of an inactive domestic altercation. As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old male from Mill Hall was cited for harassment through District Court 25-3-02.

Theft by Deception
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP—On October 3, 2024, at 4:17 p.m., PSP Lamar investigated a report of identity theft/fraud involving an 83-year-old victim from Mill Hall. Through investigation, it was determined that an unknown suspect obtained personal information from the victim via email, resulting in the loss of funds from their bank account. No further information was provided regarding the incident.

Motor Vehicle Accident
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On October 2, 2024, at 6:31 p.m., a crash occurred at the intersection of Hogan Boulevard and the entrance to the Walmart parking lot.

An unidentified driver (Unit 1) was heading west on Hogan Boulevard in the right lane, while another unidentified driver (Unit 2) was stopped at a red light coming from the Sheetz and Lowe’s parking lot. When the traffic light turned green for Unit 2, it proceeded straight through the intersection towards Walmart. Unit 1 ran the red light and entered the intersection, colliding with Unit 2. The front of Unit 1 hit the front passenger side door of Unit 2.

Both vehicles moved to the Advance Auto Parts parking lot following the collision. Unit 1 had significant damage to its front but was still operable. Similarly, Unit 2’s front passenger side door was substantially damaged, but the car also remained driveable. There were no reported injuries, and all lanes remained open.

Hit and Run
RENOVO– On October 1, 2024, at 2:27 p.m., a crash occurred on Huron Avenue at its intersection with 14th Street in Renovo. Brittany Pitt, 35, from Renovo, was traveling west on Huron Avenue when another vehicle approached the intersection and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. The vehicle, described as a blue sedan, struck the passenger’s side of Pitt’s vehicle, causing minor damage, and then fled the scene in an eastern direction on Huron Avenue. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash. Anyone with information pertaining to this hit-and-run incident is asked to contact PSP Lamar by calling 570-726-6000.

Motor Vehicle Accident
LOGANTON– On September 29, 2024, at 10:57 a.m., a crash occurred on Water Street in Loganton Borough. An unnamed driver was backing up on Water Street when the rear end of their vehicle struck the stone wall belonging to Wayne P. Urbine Funeral Home. The driver then left the scene via Water Street in an unknown direction. The building sustained minor damage and scrapes on the stone wall, and Troopers suspect that the vehicle sustained functional damage.

Motor Vehicle Accident
LAMAR TOWNSHIP– On September 29, 2024, a crash occurred at mile marker 176.8 on I-80 West when Jennifer Walker, 43, from Jersey Shore, was traveling at approximately 70 mph and a deer ran from a wooded area on the north side of the road. Walker applied the brakes in an attempt to avoid striking the deer but was unable to do so. The collision caused disabling damage to the vehicle, but no injuries were reported. Walker was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Hit and Run
CASTANEA– On September 28, 2024, a collision occurred when Megan McCloskey, 31, from Lock Haven, was traveling west on East Water Street. According to the report, McCloskey was traveling too fast for the road conditions when approaching a right-hand curve in the road and swerved to miss a deer. McCloskey lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the roadway, struck a sign, spun out, and became stuck on a curb when the vehicle came to a final rest. The vehicle sustained disabling damage to the driver’s side door and undercarriage, and no injuries were reported due to the crash.

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On September 28, 2024, at 9:15 a.m., a crash occurred on Mill Hall Road, just south of its intersection with Hogan Boulevard. A 17-year-old male from Lock Haven was exiting SR-220 South via the Mill Hall exit at a high speed. As he attempted to navigate a slight right-hand curve from the exit ramp onto Mill Hall Road, he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer into a concrete barrier on the right side of the road. The car then crossed both lanes, collided head-on with a concrete median on the west side, and came to a final rest against a guide rail off the roadway. No injuries were reported from the crash. Citations were filed with District Court 25-3-02, according to the police report.

GALLAGHER TOWNSHIP– On September 28, 2024, a crash occurred as Benjamin Zachariah, 18, from Lock Haven, was traveling north in the area of 8935 Coudersport Pike. Zachariah was negotiating a left-hand curve in the road and lost control of the vehicle due to wet road conditions. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree on the shoulder of Coudersport Pike. No injuries were reported due to the crash, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Motor Vehicle Accident
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On September 25, 2024, at approximately 3:42 p.m., a one-vehicle crash occurred on Fairpoint Road just north of Thompson Lane. The crash occurred as Jenessa Watkins, 19, from Mill Hall, was negotiating a right-hand curve in the road and lost control of the vehicle. Watkins left the roadway and struck a tree head-on. A passenger in the vehicle sustained suspected minor injuries and was taken to UPMC Lock Haven for further evaluation.

Retail Theft/Shoplifting
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On September 26, 2024, at 4:58 p.m., a retail theft occurred at Walmart in Mill Hall. A 56-year-old female from Clarence, PA, was taken into custody for attempting to leave without scanning $27.73 worth of merchandise at the self-checkout. The woman was consequently taken to the PSP Lamar barracks to be fingerprinted and released.

Harassment w/Physical Contact
RENOVO– On September 24, 2024, PSP Lamar Troopers responded to Schuylkill Avenue for a reported disturbance. Multiple non-traffic citations were filed through District Court 25-3-03 as a result of the incident, which involved a 61-year-old female, a 37-year-old female, a 42-year-old male, and a 37-year-old male, all from Renovo. No further information was included in the report.

Dog Law Violation/Non Animal Cruelty
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On September 21, 2024, at 9:28 p.m., PSP Lamar Troopers responded to the area of Pennsylvania Avenue and Hogan Boulevard for a report of a dog bite. The victim, a 17-year-old from Mill Hall, reported that he observed two dogs that were loose at the involved location. One of the dogs became aggressive without provocation and bit the victim, according to the police report. The victim sustained minor injuries from the bite, and the owner of the dog was located shortly thereafter. The dog owner, a 58-year-old male from State College, is being cited through District Court 25-3-02.

Retail Theft/Shoplifting
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On September 20, 2024, Rebecca Walker, 64, from Loganton, was observed by loss prevention at Walmart in Mill Hall as she allegedly under-rang clothing items valued at $32.96 at the self-checkout register. Walker was placed under arrest by PSP and was then processed and charged with retail theft through District Court 25-3-02.

Theft
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– A theft occurred between September 19 and September 20, 2024, involving a blue corded band saw valued at $100. The saw was allegedly taken by a tenant who was vacating a landlord’s rental garage. The band saw was later found and returned to its rightful owner, and investigators successfully identified the person responsible for the theft.

Commercial Burglary
SOUTH RENOVO– PSP Lamar Troopers responded to Pine Street in South Renovo for a report of a burglary that occurred sometime between September 18 and September 19, 2024, according to the report. Items stolen include a torque wrench valued at $150, a 3500 Watt Generator worth $800, a chop saw valued at $1,200, a cement vibrator valued at $700, and an air compressor worth $700. This investigation is ongoing.

Terroristic Threats
MILL HALL– On September 17, 2024, PSP Lamar responded to a possible threat of violence at Central Mountain Middle School, located at 200 Ben Ave. in Mill Hall. The investigation concluded that no threats or acts of violence had occurred.

DUI
BEECH CREEK– On September 14, 2024, at 10:28 p.m., PSP Lamar Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Kyle Vidart, 28, from Lock Haven, near 1141 Eagle Valley Road. Troopers reported observing indications of impairment, and Vidart was subsequently taken into custody for the suspicion of DUI alcohol. Charges are pending toxicology results.

Hit and Run
BEECH CREEK– On September 14, 2024, a crash occurred near 56 Monument Orviston Road in Beech Creek Borough. Steven Strouse, 18, from Beech Creek, was reportedly driving carelessly and recklessly, leading him to lose control of the 1986 Ford F-150 XLT he was operating. Strouse veered onto the right shoulder, hitting a parked and unoccupied 2018 Ford F-150 XLT before continuing south and colliding with another parked and unoccupied vehicle, a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. The impact pushed the Silverado into a 2008 Suzuki Verona, which subsequently hit a utility pole. Strouse continued driving about 50 feet south on Monument Orviston Road before his vehicle lost a tire, which struck a house located at 26 Monument Orviston Road, causing damage to the siding and a window frame. Strouse fled the scene, and his vehicle was pulled off the road by individuals who had witnessed the crash. Martin Motors assisted with towing and the investigation. Strouse was later identified and is now facing charges, according to the report.

Criminal Mischief
WOODWARD TOWNSHIP– On September 13, 2024, PSP Lamar responded to 28 Lilac Lane for an incident involving criminal mischief. According to the report, Dalon Ward, 33, M, from Lock Haven, threw a cinderblock through the windshield of a Dodge Dakota. Charges were filed through District Court 25-3-01 as a result of the incident.

Residential Burglary
WEST KEATING TOWNSHIP– Sometime between September 7 and September 13, 2024, a hunting camp on Keating Mountain Road was broken into. The actor used a tool to pry and force open the locked door to the camp, according to police. This investigation is ongoing.

DUI
LOCK HAVEN– On August 31, 2024, at 12:08 a.m., a traffic stop was conducted on Paul Mack Boulevard. The investigation revealed that the driver, Robert Sohmer, 67, from Mill Hall, was under the influence of alcohol. Appropriate charges were filed through District Court 25-3-01.

Harassment w/Physical Contact
MILL HALL– On August 13, 2024, at approximately 9:11 p.m., an incident occurred at Mill Hall Borough Park involving an 11-year-old juvenile who struck another juvenile multiple times. Charges were issued through District Court 25-3-02 as a result of the incident.

Theft/Bad Checks
LOGANTON– On August 2, 2024, PSP Lamar responded to Scenic Ridge Food LLC at 98 E. South Street, for a report of bad checks received by the business after a check was returned for insufficient funds, plus a returned check fee totaling $196.38. This investigation continues.

Theft from Building
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– PSP Lamar received a report of theft from a residence on 2nd Street that occurred sometime between June 1 and July 27, 2024. The property stolen includes a black and yellow Stanley 100-piece ratchet tool kit valued at $190, a brown Patagonia hoodie valued at $90, and a football valued at $30. This investigation continues.

Motor Vehicle Accident
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On July 22, 2024, a collision occurred at the intersection of Hogan Boulevard and Millbrook Plaza. Austin Parks, 20, from Lock Haven, was heading west on SR-150, while Sharon Nonemaker, 76, from Woolrich, was traveling east on the same road. As both vehicles approached a green light, Nonemaker attempted to turn left into Millbrook Plaza but failed to yield, resulting in a collision with Parks’ vehicle. Nonemaker’s vehicle suffered disabling damage, while Parks’ vehicle sustained minor damage. Nonemaker was cited for failing to yield when turning at a green light. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Theft of Lost/Mislaid Property
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On July 20, 2024, at 12:52 p.m., PSP Lamar responded to Walmart in Mill Hall and took a report of theft of mislaid property. After investigation, it was determined that the Woodland’s Bank debit card, believed to have been stolen or mislaid, was dropped in the parking lot. The debit card was returned to its owner, and the case is closed.

Motor Vehicle Accident
LAMAR TOWNSHIP– On July 20, 2024, at approximately 1:21 p.m., a one-vehicle crash occurred on Mackeyville Road near S. Mallard Street. The crash occurred when an unnamed driver was traveling at approximately 45 mph, and a deer ran out into the roadway. The driver swerved to miss the deer, causing the vehicle to roll over an embankment. The driver was not injured, but the vehicle had to be towed by Tresslers Towing.

Retail Theft/Shoplifting
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– PSP Lamar responded to Walmart in Mill Hall on July 17, 2024, for a report of retail theft. An unnamed 24-year-old female from Lock Haven allegedly stole a three-tier cake valued at $68.00 and a pack of sparklers for $0.97. The woman was subsequently charged through District Court 25-3-02.

Public Drunkenness
RENOVO– On July 6, 2024, Denise Taylor, 39, from Renovo, was observed at a residence that was in violation of her bail conditions and where she had been told to leave. Taylor was taken into custody and charged through District Court 25-3-03 for Defiant Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, and Public Drunkenness.

Firearm Sale or Transfer
LAMAR TOWNSHIP— A prohibited person attempted to purchase a firearm from Miller’s Gun Shop on May 18, 2024, at 11:27 a.m. This investigation continues.

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP– On November 12, 2023, PSP Lamar received a report of a Firearms Act Violation that occurred at Walmart in Mill Hall. This investigation is ongoing.
