LHU Volleyball bounces back with thrilling victory over Millersville
LOCK HAVEN – The Lock Haven volleyball team rallied in a match-deciding fifth set against Millersville to secure a 3-2 (25-21, 16-25, 25-19, 18-25, 19-17) Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division victory at home on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 5).
The Bald Eagles wrapped up a three-game homestand to kick off their PSAC Eastern Division schedule by hosting Millersville on Saturday afternoon inside Thomas Fieldhouse.
The victory is the first in the PSAC East for The Haven, who improves to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in the PSAC East. The Marauders fall to 8-8 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
In the fifth and deciding set, both teams led by as much as two, before locking at 11-11 to set up an exciting finish.
The divisional opponents traded points over the ensuing rallies, until Millersville took two straight to lead 16-15.
With their backs against the wall, the Bald Eagles responded with three of the next four points in the final set, before Emma Kelly’s ace sealed the victory for Lock Haven, 19-17.
Reagan Irons led the way for Lock Haven as she finished with a match- and career-high 23 kills to go with 19 digs, two assists and two blocks.
Kelly Gaston controlled the middle for Lock Haven and dished out a match-high 43 assists and finished with 13 digs, six blocks and six kills. Gracelynn Wolzen had a strong match up front and totaled 15 kills and five digs.
Natalie Acevedo powered the defensive effort as she totaled a match- and career-high 34 digs, while adding nine assists. Evie Jane Rembold finished with five blocks to go with seven kills.
Lock Haven took the first set of the day, 25-21, before building a 2-1 lead with a 25-19 victory in set-three. However, Millersville rallied to take the fourth set, 25-18, to send the match to the fifth and final.

The Bald Eagles hit the road and will travel to Kutztown on Friday (Oct. 11) at 6 p.m. for a PSAC East match.
