Shikellamy spoils Central Mountain Homecoming, 41-0
By Bees O’Brien
MILL HALL- Bryce Brungard and Katelyn Bowman will forever remember Homecoming 2024 at Central Mountain. The duo were named Homecoming king and queen, but Brungard and his Wildcat teammates will try and put their meeting against Shikellamy behind them.
Despite an interception from Brungard in the second quarter, the Braves were just too much. Four Central Mountain turnovers would see Shik build a 20-0 lead after one quarter and that lead would swell to 28-0 by halftime.
Both teams entered Friday night 0-5 and the Wildcats legitimately had a shot at the Braves, but an onsides kick by Shikellamy quickly dowsed any shot CM had left.
A touchdown in the third quarter and another in the fourth would see the Braves implement the mercy rule on Central Mountain.
That would play out to be the final, as CM would be shut out for the second straight week.
Central Mountain did have a bright spot behind the running of Jake Weaver, who racked up 83 yards on 15 totes.
Central Mountain’s schedule will only get tougher in their final four games. It will begin with a road trip to Montoursville (4-2) on Friday. Then the Wildcats will make a tough road swing to Mount Carmel the following. They will end with home contests against the top ranked 2A team in the Troy Trojans before a season finale against 5-1 Jersey Shore.
