50 Days to Election: Commissioner Harding Encourages Voting, Warns of Scam Text Messages

By Emily Wright

LOCK HAVEN—With only 50 days remaining until the 2024 general election, Clinton County Commissioner Angela Harding urged residents to ensure they are prepared to vote and also warned them against voter registration scams during Monday’s work session.

“I’m encouraging everyone to find the best way to get out and vote,” Commissioner Harding said.

Leading up to the election, Harding warned residents against clicking on any election-related links received via text message. “One of the things that I think is very imperative for folks to understand is that neither the Department of State nor Clinton County sends text messages for you to verify your registration, for you to register to vote, or to do any of those things. If you are receiving text messages, please do not click on the link; delete it immediately,” she asserted.

Harding also highlighted that voters can check their registration status, make necessary changes, and apply for a mail-in ballot online. “You can apply for a mail-in ballot by October 29 by going to vote.pa.gov/mailballot,” she said. Harding noted that ballots are expected to be mailed in the first week of October.

Harding expressed hope for higher turnout this presidential election year and urged voters to verify their status and reach out if they have any questions.

For any election-related questions, county residents can contact the voter registration office at 570-893-4019 or via email at voter@clintoncountypa.gov.
